Our star of the month

Meet our star of the month – Warren Standcumbe

Our favourite part of each month is crowning our star. Although we appreciate every one of our colleagues every single day, over the last few weeks one person has stood out in particular – Warren Standcumbe.

Warren is our Unified & Cloud Comms Solutions Lead and he provides invaluable support into both our internal teams and our customers, providing demos, supporting product launches and making sure that customers move seamlessly and successfully from the sales process into their in-life experience with us.

We’ll let Warren tell you the rest…

1. How long have you been at Windsor Telecom?

This is my first year at Windsor. Time has gone so quickly, working with such an enthusiastic team.

2. Tell us a bit about your day to day responsibilities.

My job is to make sure that our sales teams are well supported by providing information & documentation to support our unified communications and telephony solutions. As I’m our product expert I’m often called on to give demonstrations and attend customer meetings when there’s a close product-fit, especially when working on our larger scale projects to make sure that our solutions are delivered to customers’ requirements.

3. What career wisdom can you share with us?

Listening is key to creating a great customer relationship and making sure you deliver what the customer requires. This is the first step to ensuring a great customer experience, something that’s core to Windsor achieving our goal – to make technology easy and enjoyable.

4. What changes would you like to see in the telecoms industry over the next decade?

With hybrid working now becoming the norm, I’d love to see less reliance on physical hardware and tighter integrations with 3rd party devices, all embedded within single applications across 5G and beyond – making everyone’s working environment more dynamic.

5. What’s your favourite project you’ve worked on at Windsor? Why?

Working with one of our most recent charity customers has been a really rewarding experience. Knowing that we will provide a solution that maximises the flexibility for thousands of volunteers to help people on a daily basis, really makes what you do worthwhile. It moves us from just being a communications provider to being part of a team effort that’s helping people going through a difficult time.

6. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Being with my family is the most important thing, but going to live sports and music events is a great way to let my hair down. Oh and I love golf – so take every opportunity to play as much as possible!

7. Any fun facts or hidden talents we don’t know about you?

I was in a college rock band as lead singer for a while, covering lots of songs from the 90’s.

8. What’s one thing you can’t live without?

Apart from oxygen!? If I was stuck on a desert island, I would hope that the largest container of Coke Zero would wash up on the beach.

9. If you could be any superhero, who would it be?

I hate flying so anything that means I could stay on the ground would be great, maybe Mister Fantastic who could stretch his body to new destinations.

10. If you could meet any three people, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Definitely Michelle Obama as she seems an incredible person; anyone from Roswell to see what really happened; and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, just for the stories.

Thanks Warren, it was great getting to know you and we’re so happy to have you as part of the Windsor team!
