Ringing the changes

Dialling code conventions change in five areas on 1st October.

We’re all accustomed to tapping the area prefix when dialling from outside an area or when making a call from a mobile. But, this time next week, including the geographic (geo) code number when making a local call will become the norm in the following five UK regions:

  • Aberdeen (01224)
  • Bradford (01274)
  • Brighton (01273)
  • Middlesbrough (01642)
  • Milton Keynes (01908)
  • So if you live or work in one of these areas, start adding the STD code today and don’t forget to update your speed dial shortcuts.

If you have any questions, here’s Ofcom’s guide. Or feel free to give us a call.

On a final note: dialling local calls with the local code won’t affect the cost of the call.
