West Mercia Police Stops 0845 Non Emergency Number Today in Favour of 03

12th January, 2010 Author: Adam Binding Rating

A Worcester based police force is reminding callers to only use it's new 03 non-emergency number from today as it has now stopped using its old 0845 number.

West Mercia Police launched its 03 number in November 2008 in response to concerns over the higher cost to call 0845 numbers. 03 numbers offer the organisation all the benefits of its 0845 number whilst enabling people to phone it for the same price as a regular landline number - even from a mobile phone.

For the last 14 months both phone numbers have been in operation but from today (Tuesday 12th January 2010) people who call the 0845 number will be asked to redial using 0300 3333 000.

030 numbers are exclusively for public bodies and charities and were launched by Ofcom to provide transparency in the cost to call these types of organisations.

For businesses wanting to take advantage of the benefits of an 03 number - 033 numbers are available for all types of organisations.
