NHS Unveils 03 Number Stressline

A new telephone number has been setup by the NHS for people to call who are worried about unemployment and debt.

The NHS Stressline is 0300 123 2000 and is open daily from 8am - 10pm.

Many people have welcomed the new helpline.

Paul Farmer, chief executive of the mental health charity MIND, said: "Money worries and fears about job security have the potential to trigger mental health problems like depression and anxiety. When people are faced with piles of bills and deep emotional despair, the future can seem bleak and it can often be difficult to know where to turn for advice. "

People calling the NHS Stressline's 03 number will not pay more than a regular landline (01/02) number - even when calling from a mobile phone.

03 numbers are also included in the free minutes that mobile and landline tariffs offer users which means that many people will be able to phone the Stressline without charge.
