03 on the Wireless

Virgin Radio is using an 03 number for its studio line:

0330 123 1215

This means mobile callers to the station get to dial up for the same price as a standard landline 01/02 number. This will often be free if callers have free minutes on their mobile!

Pioneering 03!

Electronics manufacturer, Pioneer, is now using an 03 number for its customer relations line at its UK division:

0330 123 1240

033 numbers are for any business and means that customers don't have to pay more than a standard landline 01/02 number to call them - even from a mobile!

Yet another example of a major organisation taking advantage of the benefits that 03 numbers have to offer!

03 for the BBC

I was listening to BBC Radio One over the weekend and it is now using an 03 number as its main studio line:

03700 100 100

This is great, as I can imagine a large percentage of listeners will be contacting the station using their mobile phones. This means that they will not be charged more than a standard 01 or 02 number to do so and their call could even be free, as 03 numbers are included in the free minutes that are provided by mobile and landline networks.

037 numbers are know as 03 migration numbers and allow organisations that have an 08 number to exchange it for the 03 equivalent. For example, Radio 1's previous number was 08700 100 100.

The BBC are in the process of swapping all of their 0870 numbers for 0370 and Radio 2 have started using 03700 100 200 as well.

Have you heard / seen anyone else using an 03 number?
