This sub range of 03 numbers has been made available to anyone who wishes to migrate their existing 0870, 0871 or 0845 numbers to the new 03 UK-wide numbers range.

For example, somebody who owns 0845 600 6000 will be entitled to migrate to the equivalent 0345 600 6000. In the same way someone with 0870 455 5000 can apply for 0370 455 5000.

Ofcom (the regulatory body) has designated these equivalent migration ranges so that existing users of non-geographic numbers have the opportunity to benefit from the new 03 numbers range, whist minimising disruption to corporate communication and identity.

What will change if I use 03 migration numbers?

03 numbers function in exactly the same way as any other 08 non-geographic numbers, such as 0845 or 0800. However, the main difference being the cost associated with calling them.

Unlike other non-geographic numbers, such as 0845 numbers or 0800 freephone numbers, calls to 03 migration numbers will cost exactly the same as calls to standard geographic numbers (e.g. beginning 01 or 02). They will also be included within any inclusive call minutes or discount/package schemes in the same way as geographic calls. Your 03 number will also be fully diallable from abroad.

The primary reason for the introduction of 03 numbers is to raise public oncfidence in telephone numbers and be truly price trasparent, therefore businesses will no longer be able to revenue share, as with some 0870 and 0871 numbers. Ofcom Chief Exectutive, Ed Richards states;

“Consumers will be able to dial 03 numbers with confidence about the cost of their call. We expect public services and many others to view 03 numbers as a real alternative to higher cost 08 numbers.”

What should I do about 03 migration numbers?

Customers who already posses a Windsor Telecom non-geographic number beginning 0845, 0870 and 0871 will be eligible to apply for their equivalent 03 migration numbers. For example, a customer who owns 0845 130 8080 can apply for 0345 130 8080 and a customer who owns 0870 350 5350 can apply for the 0370 350 530 migration number.

This is an extremely important decision for you and your business and a great deal of evaluation and consideration should take place before any decision is made to migrate to 03 numbers. For example, you may have to market a new phone number and possibly re-print stationery etc.

We are here to help you with this decision and can assess your individual circumstances and options with you. Please contact us via our online form or phone us directly on 0333 123 1010 to speak with your Dedicated Account Manager.
